Cashmere Creations, a Malaysian company founded in 2018 by a creative entrepreneur passionate about empowering women and preserving Kashmir’s rich cottage industry. The founder, Rahil, a native of Kashmir who was living in Malaysia, embarked on a journey to work closely with local artisans, creating opportunities for their craftsmanship to reach a global audience while helping sustain traditional skills for future generations. Rahil, whose family has been in the kashmiri handicraft business for generations had a vision since he was a little boy to showcase the products that his family makes to the world.
These gifted artisans, who are mainly women, are a part of the Cashmere Creations family now. The founder embarked on creating the awareness on the art of making Kashmiri hand-spun, hand-woven and hand-embroidered Pashmina shawls to the Malaysian community and the world. Pashmina Shawls played an important part in the start and success of Cashmere Creations.
At the same time, Rahil started a journey on empowering women living in Kashmiri villages, nurturing dignity, pride and humanity at every level. Although Cashmere Creations’ niche product is Pashmina shawls, they wanted to provide a consistent livelihood to these women by engaging them as their full-time artisans and started making and adding more products to their range. They started making hand embroidered Jackets, Ponchos, Kaftans, soft furnishing and gemstones jewelry. All the gemstone jewellery is made in Kashmir and is set in 92.5 sterling silver. Cashmere Creations makes jewelry you can feel good about wearing with thoughtful craftmanship in every phase of production.
Cashmere Creations embarked on this entrepreneurial journey in 2018. Pop Up stores in numerous shopping malls and events; and online stores on various international platforms played a huge role in the growth of the business. The Enterprise started growing and shipping worldwide to countries such as USA, Australia, Middle East, Singapore and to Europe. The experience and exposure taught the Founder a lot about this business and learnt that their products appealed enormously to the tourists and the elite in Malaysia.
Cashmere Creations outlets can be found in Suria KLCC and the Sheraton Imperial Hotel Kuala Lumpur. With their motto being “every piece is a work of art”, you will fall in love with their craftsmanship.
